Telescope Peak

May 30th 2009

Telescope peak is the highest peak in Death Valley. I am going to climb this peak from Bad Water on this coming October. It will be the hardest hike on my life. Ascend 11,000+ ft in 1 day...
Anyway, we were not doing this crazy hike on this weekend and started from Mahogany camp site that is about 3,000 ft below Telescope Peak.
On Satruday, we have just drive up to the camp site. Mark gave me a ride from Las Vegas. 'Sha Jin' was also come with us. This is the first hike/camp for her in the US. She said she has some experience in China but here.
On Sunday, we started hiking around 7:40 AM. Only 15 minutes later, Sha started whining. Sally took care of her and another 6 hikers went ahead.
It was beautiful weather. No hot/cold/wind.
3 of us (Mark, Bob and I) made it to the peak just in 3 hours. Amazingly, Sha and Sally made it to the peak about 40 minutes later.
On the way down, Mark and I decided to go down on ridge line instead of switch back. And we found hidden trail on the ridge line.
We also bagged Rogers Peak. Its only 400 ft easy climb. Then descent the ridge line that leads to trail head.
