Checkerboard Arch

June 6th 2009

Mark, Debbie, Jorge, Branch, Kathy and I went Zion for camping trip.
Mark got 6 spot for Zion Subway on June 7th and gave us an offer to come. We have decided to go on 6th and take a short hike. Mark picked one good short hike 'Checkerboard Arch'. Nobody in our group have hiked this trail. I put several waypoint in my GPS.
When I set up the tent at camp site before the hike, I found I forgot my camera. So, I have decided to take a pic with my cell phone camera.
The trail to the Checkerboard Arch overlook was easy hike. Even though there was some scramble and not suitable for beginner. Then we headed North back to the trail head. We need to climb the suddle of Mesa. The route is very steep and many bush wacking. Once get to the suddle, very steep descent route was waiting for us. It was a very fun down scramble. But I wont like it if I had to scramble up. Too many loose sand part.
It took us about 3 hours, but we stopped many times and took a lots of photo.
The last 15 pics of this album was taken by Debbie. (Thanks Debbie !!)
When we got back to camp site, I found my camera in my Backpack. I was sooo damb.
