4 Peaks in 1 Day Hike

July 4th 2009

This was my 2nd Annual '4 Peaks in 1 Day' hike. I was trying to do this last year by myself and fortunately I ran into Peppe's group. They are also doing same hike, so I joined them.
This year, I picked 5 members from Meetup hiking group and joined Peppe. Ofcourse Bob Means also came with him.
We started hiking little after 5AM from Rainbow Canyon trail head. Then bag Harris Peak. Peppe changed the plan to climb Harris Peak instead of Fletcher Peak this year. But hiking distance & total elevation gain is almost same.
After we climbed Harris Peak, came down same way to the saddle and climbed up to Griffith Peak.
It took us almost 4 hours to get there. But we have already gained 4,300 ft total elevation gain. That is almost as same elevation gain as Charleston Peak hike.
Then we followed the South Loop trail to Charleston Peak. On the way, we saw Gary's camp site. Then met some Gary's group members. They were doing '1 Peak in 3 Days' hike. We celebrate the 4 of July together at the Charleston Peak.
After we left the Charleston Peak, take North Loop trail for a while. There were some snow patch near the trail.
At some point, we left the trail and took a ridge line to Mummy Mtn. Peak. Its a class 2-3 route.
When we get to top of the scree slope, Sirak and Michael Wall were already exhausted and stopping frequently.
After long 10 hours and 44 minutes, we all made it to the 4th peak the Mummy Mtn. Peak.
Then we came down to Trail Canyon. It took us about 1.5 - 2 hours to get our car.
It was total of 22+ mile and total elevation gain of 7,000 ft hike. Took about 12.5 hours. Peppe made a lots of short brake for us to allow us to catch him up, otherwise we could lost half the member of our group...
