Keyhole Canyon

July 25th 2009

This was my first Canyoneering trip. Debbie gave me an offer to join this trip.
Since, I have never done any canyoneering, I really didn't know what kind of gear do I need. Debbie helped me out at REI when I get those gear.

On Saturday morning, it was very clowdy and seemed to get some chance of rain. Our original plan was doing Pine Creek Canyon on Saturday and Keyhole Canyon on Sunday. But, we have switched the plan due to the weather.

To get to the trail head parking is little tricky. Since, we didn't measure the distance from the second tunnel (1.8 mile from second tunnel), we parked the wrong parking lot. We found out that after 5 minutes of walk.

This Canyoneering is loop trail. So, we didn't need to leave any car at pick up point. But, we have to hike up the hill before we come down the canyon.
This Canyon is very short. Its only quarter mile. So, we hike up the hillside for quarter mile. Thats makes whole trip distance of half mile.
The canyon was very narrow and its only 3-5 ft wide. There were several water spot. Most of them were only knee deep but some of them were weist to sholder deep. All the water were very nasty especially the last one.
