Paddling at Lake Mead

June 13th 2009

It was my 2nd time paddling at Lake Mead. I did my first paddling only 2 weeks ago and it was blast.
Emily posted 8 miles round trip at Lake Mead. I was originaly doing 5+ peak hike on Mt.Charleston on this day, but 8 mile paddling seems much challanging than 24+ miles hike for me. After we left the PWC Beach and paddled 1.5 miles, one guy suddenly stopped paddling. It seems he got dehydrated. He couldn't move and couldn't see anything.
Emily called powerboat for help and they took him to the shore safely. On the way back to the shore, we called Park Ranger. When we got to the shore, 4 park ranger and amburance came to us. Fortunately, that guy was OK and didn't hospitalized.
After we made sure he was OK, we went back to paddle. But, we just went to small island thats only half mile from the PWC Beach. We took lunch break and swam at there. Water was very warm.
On the way home, 5 of us went to Pizza place for rehydration.
