Fretcher Peak Snowshoeing Hike

December 19th 2009

After we did snowshoeing to the Fretcher Peak, I decided to post same hike on Meetup.
Since this hike is not an easy hike, I limited only 8 hikers. I thought only few hikers would join this hike.
But, all the spots were filled very soon, and got several hikers on the waiting list. So, I allowed all the hikers to come.

The Northloop Trailhead was snow-free and the trail was hardpacked. I hiked without using snowshoes for first half mile. I might make it all the way up without using snowshoe, but it helped me when the route was getting steeper.
There were several snowshoeing newbies on this hike, but they handled it very well. We made it to the peak in 2 hours 45 minutes. This was 15 minutes faster than last weekend.
The temperature at the peak was 51 degrees, no clouds and no winds. We spent 1 hour 15 minutes at the peak. We were not even cold. The view was amazing.
Some fast hikers made it back to trail head in less than 1 hour. And most of us made it in 1.5 hour.
