Kaumana Cave, Rainbow Falls & Boiling Pots

August 12th 2013

Since the rental Jeep broke on the way to the Mauna Kea, the rental Jeep guy gave me an offer to give me a ride to the Mauna Loa.
He also picked me up on the next day.
I still had few more hours until my flight back to the Las Vegas and he took me a short hike to Caves and Falls around the Hilo.
First, we stopped by the Kaumana Cave. It is actually the Lava tube. We hiked in for couple hundred feet each way. Inside cave was very dark and dripping the water. I heard that we could go for another miles but we didn't have proper shoes.
Then we stopped by Rainbow Falls. It is very beautiful water falls. Hike down to the top of water falls.
Then we drove up to the Boiling Pots that is actually upper part of Rainbow falls. There is a view spot over the cliff and fenced off. But, we crossed the fence and hiked down to the river.
We hiked along the river for a little bit. All of sudden I see one of the most beautiful water falls. Not only the water falls, but there is a big island under the water falls. It was amazingly beautiful.
