F-4E Phantom II Crash Site

Summery :

The McDonnell Douglas F-4E Phantom II is an US Air Force version of all-weather, long-range supersonic jet interceptor and fighter-bomber originally developed for the US Navy.
This F-4E (#68-0518) belonged to 33rd Tactical Fighter Wing, Eglin AFB.
On September 2nd 1982, it was crashed during "Exercise Red Flag 77-9". The aircraft was flying as lead of a flight of two for the Blue Forces. The aircraft impacted the ground in a nose down angle as the aircrew attempted to negate a stern gun attack by Hawk 42, an F-15 aggressor.
Both crewmen Captain David W. Sanden and 1st Lieutenant James I. Lewis III died in the crash.
