F-4D Phantom II Crash Site

Summery :

The McDonnell Douglas F-4D Phantom II is an US Air Force version of all-weather, long-range supersonic jet interceptor and fighter-bomber originally developed for the US Navy.

This F-4D (#65-0656) was assigned to the 479th Tactical Fighter Wing, George AFB.

On April 20, 1967 a flight of four F-4D Phantom’s departed George Air Force Base for the Leech Lake Tactical Range to simulate attacks on fixed ground targets.
The call sign for the flight was Blondie 1,2,3, and 4.
The mishap aircraft (Blondie 3) began a dive on a truck and was seen to continue normally.
At the recovery phase, Blondie 3 rolled twice to the right and crashed on the side of a mountain.

Both 1st Lt. Douglas B. Rose and 1st Lt. Donald H. Weber were killed instantly in this tragic accident.

Crash site has ton's of wrecks and many parts are in a large (few feet long) size.
Engines, Wings, Pylons, Gears, Electronic parts etc...
Most of the wrecks are contained in a steep ravine for 200 ft.
