Gold Strike Hot Springs Hike

February 28th 2009

Siobhan, Miki, Dave, Steven, Chika and I went to Gold Strike Hot Springs on Feb.28t Saturday. Chika is going back to Japan forever, so I pick this beautiful canyon hike for her last hike in the US. Then I found Siobhan is going to this canyon hike, so I joined her group.
The weather was great. I wear short pants and brought water shoes. On the way down to the Colorado River, I wear my hiking boots, because I wanted some good grip on the rock, but my hiking boots sole doesn't get much grip especially after get wet. I start using this boots last Septermber and its gone after 6 month hard use. I think I can use it for few more times, but I should get new pair of boots as soon as possible.
We hiked down to the Colorado River in little bit over 2 hours. The Colorado River water level is higher than last time and no way we can get to Sauna Cave unless we swim across cold water for couple hundred yards. We turn back and took a nice hot bathing for a while.
It was about 5.5 miles round trip and 900 ft elevation lose/gain hike. We spent about 5.5 hours at there.
